We utilise both Beam F3 algorithms and MRI-guided Neuronavigation (Brain Science Tools) for utmost accuracy. Our team is skilled in psychiatry, pain management, and rehabilitation. Additionally, Neuralia has joined forces with the Perron Institute of UWA to conduct TMS research.

We strive to provide our partners with multiple options for determining the exact treatment locations. As a result, we offer the option of using TMS machines with and without MRI-guided neuronavigation. If the primary treatment focus is psychiatric conditions, it has been demonstrated multiple times that there is no statistically significant difference (aside from cost) between MRI guidance and Beam F3 measurements for treating depression, as found by Hebel et al in 2021 (https://www.brainstimjrnl.com/article/S1935-861X(21)00018-8/fulltext).

The Beam F3 approach in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a technique used to locate the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), the primary target area for TMS treatment, especially in depression.

The Beam F3 method utilises a mathematical calculation based on the EEG 10-20 system to identify the F3 position, an approximation of the DLPFC location. This method is often used when more advanced imaging techniques, such as MRI-guided neuronavigation, are not available. It’s a simpler, less resource-intensive method, but it may not be as precise as techniques that use neuroimaging.

However, those interested in treating conditions such as tinnitus and certain pain conditions may prefer MRI guidance, which offers more precision for conditions that require targeting more uncommon brain regions, such as the auditory cortex.
